This weekend I was with my two French roommates Felix and Simon in La Serena and its surroundings. As I was already there though, but I quite like the weekend is the time in the water. This time it was much better!
After we arrived early morning in La Serena we quickly scheduled the next day and taken care to include a trip to Isla Damas. Since we wanted to stay there we had a permit When carrying out Conaf (Fort authority). Then we went to Valle Elqui. In this valley, it almost never rains (well known exceptions prove the rule) and consequently dried up even the landscape. But since Fortunately, the Rio Elqui flows through this valley, you use it perfect for viticulture. (It then wine or Pisco !)
We then "Los Niches" Pisquera visited the oldest of the valley where we were told exactly how Pisco is produced, what is important and what the Grappa is the difference. Finally we had to buy at the prices and the odd bottle. (A few thousand or even ago?)
evening we went to one of the many observatories. (As I said there it is 360 days a year, Starry!) The scientific observatories are often booked years in advance and cost a pig money, so we contented ourselves with a "tourist" Oberservatorium.
was definitely very interesting and I learned more there than at any university day. eg. that we "just" in front of a supernova. The star do not matter at all but said the light is just not the fastest. But if everything is not quite as easy to predict because you said so, how has not seen it. The estimates you can do because of color / temperature, etc.. Well, in any case, the theoretical possibility that we experience later this century a month-long Super Nova. We then various constellations can see through the telescope's highlight, and as we then can observe Jupiter, including 4 of its moons. (Overall, the 63 not only like we did)
The first night we then spent at a campsite of Pisco Elqui, we still Choripan prepared and of course the Pisco tried:
The next day we returned to La Serena and have recovered a bit because at the Sunday, it went off very early in the Reserva Nacional de Humboldt Pingüinos . 2 of 3 islands we may not enter so we have the sea lions, Humboldt penguins and a variety of birds observed from a boat.
is currently not the season because we were the only visitors in the end! On the island, although there are because of the tourists as good as any penguins, but for a variety of flowers, crab animals, rock formations, beaches, birds, etc. (see Photo Album October )
was at our football game with buoys this brilliant snapshot: from
From the beach then we could make even a large group of dolphins identified. But this was difficult to photograph because of the distance and the lay-cameras. Auf diesem Bild erkennt man (zumindest in der Großansicht) drei Delfine:
Am nächsten Tag sind wir dann mit einem anderen Touristen Boot wieder ans Festland und haben uns langsam aber sicher wieder auf made their way home. In La Serena, we still had several hours until the bus was, accordingly, we consumed at the beach or cozy little wine, that helps then known, on the bus to sleep better!

All in all a great trip. Next weekend I will probably make no great trip since passed my roommate have to see me once a week. Accordingly, probably the whole squatting together go to the beach. :)
general: As one can see in the photos is now much warmer, spring just! I feel myself very well and I'm around a lot. As I imagined the semester in Chile!
